We have an exciting season in store for you!

Welcome to our 2009/2010 Season!

If our registration night and learn to curl clinic is any indication, for curling numbers are on the rise again. A record number of returning and new members came out to our AGM, Registration Night this year. It was very encouraging to see so many people come out to register on September 22nd. Our first learn to curl clinic was held this past Saturday. We had over 50 people out to learn some of the basic techniques and etiquette of the game. A big thank you to the volunteer instructors that dedicated their Saturday to teaching others to curl.

We would like to recognize, Dave Dougan, Cy Gladish, Michelle Pratt, Allen Pratt, Dawn Walker, Gary Stene, and Dona and Doug Cade.

We have a second learn to curl clinic scheduled for Sat. Nov 14th, if you would like to participate, please sign up at the Club.

Our club is pleased to announce, we are hosting the 2010 Scotties Tournament of Hearts B.C. Women’s Curling Championship Jan 4-10, 2010. A salute to the teachers of School District #67

Did you know? Over 2000 students from School District #67 utilize our curling club as part of their physical education curriculum. These dedicated teachers and coaches know the value of encouraging physical activity, team play and good sportsmanship.

The spin-off for curling clubs is tremendous. We often see new curlers at our club that haven’t curled since high school. . We find that those who have tried curling at a young age will often take it up again later in life.

For me, growing up in Keremeos, the opportunity to take part in curling was not a viable option. Unfortunately, distance and lack of funding is often an issue for smaller communities that don’t have a rink.

So, like many curlers, I never learned to curl until I was 40. I am very thankful that I have found an activity that I can do well into my retirement years.
